Concept definition: A sterile <TERRAIN_PLAIN> containing an excess of alkali, usually occurring in the bottom of an under-drained <GEOGRAPHIC_BASIN> in an arid or semi-arid <TERRAIN_SURFACE_REGION>; alkali flat. The <LAND> may be soft, have low shearing and bearing strength, and a high organic content.
